We rarely think about the number of manufactured goods we interact with every day. Most of us just have faith that they are going to perform the function we need them to complete. From medical devices to cars and power tools to appliances, our days are filled with manufactured goods that could seriously injure or kill us if they did not perform as expected.

At the Forsyth County law firm of Neville & Cunat LLP, our personal injury lawyers help injured victims throughout Georgia pursue the full and fair compensation they deserve.

Products do fail and people are injured with regularity. Manufacturers of defective or dangerous products should compensate people for the injuries they suffer because of their products.

Product defects fall into three categories:

  • Manufacturing defects — When a single instance or batch of a product has some flaw that deviates from the design, this is a manufacturing defect. Not all instances of the product contain the defect, so a limited number of consumers are exposed to risk.
  • Design defects — A flaw in the design of a product will be present in every copy of that product. Every individual instance of that product that has been built from a defective design can put the consumer at risk of harm when the defect creates a failure.
  • Failure to warn — Some products are only dangerous when they are used a certain way. If the manufacturer can foresee that consumers may use the product in that dangerous fashion, it owes a duty to warn people about the hazard that comes from using the product in that particularly dangerous way. If the manufacturer fails to warn people about that risk and injury occurs, the manufacturer should compensate the injured individuals.

Pursuing compensation from a manufacturer can be a challenge considering the financial and legal resources many large companies have at their disposal. Having skilled and experienced legal representation can make the difference between you being compensated or not.
