High school track star dies in car accident

On Behalf of | Dec 11, 2018 | Wrongful Death |

A high school track star has passed away in Georgia after he was involved in a car accident. He was a passenger in the car, riding in the front seat. The police are still carrying out the investigation, but they think it is likely that they will have criminal charges for the driver of that car when all is said and done.

The young man in question went to Creekview High School, which is located over in Canton, Georgia. He was a senior at the school, and he was 17 years old when he passed away.

When saying that charges would most likely happen, a spokesperson for the police department was careful to note that “investigators will wait until they complete their investigation and until toxicology results return before determining what charges to file.” They simply want to gather all possible evidence before they determine why the accident happened and exactly who was to blame.

Reports indicate that four teens were in the vehicle at the time of the crash: Roughly 2:00 p.m. The driver apparently lost control of that vehicle. It left the roadway and went down a nearby embankment. At the bottom, it slammed into a tree. While they have not commented on other causes at this point, the investigators do believe that excessive speed could have played a role.

The two other passengers, who are 17 years old and 15 years old, also went to the hospital. The younger one was released, but the older one suffered serious injuries.
