Truck accidents and poor maintenance

On Behalf of | Jul 20, 2018 | Truck Accidents |

As with a car or SUV, the maintenance of a truck is important for various reasons. One of those reasons is to keep it running smoothly so that gas is not being wasted. The other reason is to keep the truck’s parts in good working condition so they do not fail and lead to an accident in Georgia.

Regular maintenance of a truck should never be overlooked. When a truck is taken out of service so it can be sent for maintenance, the mechanic will be looking for issues that need to be rectified. Examples of issues include improperly installed tires, failing brakes, burnt lightbulbs, a failing horn and much more.

Aside from checking all of the parts to make sure they work properly, the mechanic will also change the oil, air filters, transmission fluid and more. All of these items need to be updated regularly in an effort to prevent the engine from failing, which could lead to a serious accident.

Another thing that will be done when a truck goes in for maintenance is the tires will be rotated. If the tires are not rotated every couple thousand miles, they could become worn to the point where one of them blows. A truck that suffers a blown tire will spin out of control on the road, causing chaos.

Trucks need to be maintained regularly, especially since they are driven thousands of miles each week. Truck accidents caused by poor maintenance are quite common across Georgia. Ensuring that trucks are properly maintained is important to the safety of the truck driver and all others around the truck on the road.
